Sunprints: Keys 1759 - 1770

Sunprints: Keys 1759 - 1770

Last month I had the privilege of attending the opening of the Nutrien Wonderhub in Saskatoon. The entire place was cool and exciting. Also very cool and exciting was finding a sun-printing kit in their gift shop! I have a fond memory of making sun prints in my youth. Last year I tried unsuccessfully to find the blue paper used in the process. Well, I did find the paper and placed an order, but for reasons unknown to me there was no stock available and my order remained unfulfilled.

It’s been awhile since I’ve made some assemblage keys. I truly love pulling together bits and pieces from my treasure stash and creating keys. I’d forgotten how much joy that brings me. I also love the sunshine.

To make the prints place objects or cut out images on the special blue sun printing paper, leave in the sun for about 3 minutes, and then rinse off with water. Here are some pictures from my sun printing:

To complete the keys I outlined the sun prints with a black pen. This is another thing I love to do. Here are the finished keys:
